about

Comprised of well in excess of 800 live acoustic tracks, and countless thousands of duplications, permutations, and manipulations of those original recordings, the music contained in these downloads (SURROGATE: 01-07) was created as part of a multimedia performance, and (along with an accompanying film) acted as a counter balance to the choreography of Bryce Vinnicombe Winkler.

The music for DECONSTRUCTING THE SURROGATE (tracks 02-08) was recorded and assembled July/August 2012 for the September 2012 workshop performance at The Garage (SF), and subsequently remixed, reworked, amended, and finalized June/July 2013 for the August 2013 performance at San Francisco's ODC Theater, before the commencement of our east coast and european shows.

[BONUS TRACK ONE] SURROGATE: 00 - the title is self explanatory.

[BONUS TRACK TWO] CAN'T SLEEP - a non-instrumental track, included largely because several elements from this recording were lifted and used during the coarse of the DTS project (and visa versa).

[BONUS TRACK THREE] SURROGATE :08B/II - an augmented arrangement of isolated DTS melodies (including the disused introduction), a shortened version of which accompanied an early 2012 promotional video.

Note: The included version of the soundtrack is the one utilized for the live presentation of the piece, and (as it was equalized for the usage in theatrical, and auditorium, settings) has been only moderately compressed. In order to more accurately approximate and/or reproduce the intended dynamics of the composition it will most likely be necessary to listen to it through external speakers, as base tones and sub frequencies comprise an integral component of the listening experience.
